What do you think of X market?
The following note/question came in from a reader named James over the weekend. His question brings up something which warrants addressing now, and has implications moving forward.
I like your blog and book, they are really great. What do you think of the solar market in the near future?
Here’s the thing. I work for a company which is a Registered Investment Advisor under the SEC regulations. I also work on an equity product. The combination of the two makes it difficult for me to publish opinions about the markets, especially the stock market. Those constraints have kept me from posting or providing the market analysis I might have otherwise done – though it wouldn’t have been here on this blog as I keep this one very tightly focused on education.
Having said that, things are changing. I will no longer be covering equities come mid-February. Nor will the group I’m in which is under the SEC rules. I’m switching over to forex. That’s going to loosen things up considerably for me, allowing me to do some things which present my market analysis. More on that later as things come more into focus. Right now they are still transitory.

Hello..I am new to this site and am just starting to learn to trade… I am looking for opinions on the best trading books… I have read Robert Dorfman’s Hedge Fund Trading Secrets Revealed, which was fantastic,..I learned so much…. Jim Cramers’s Confessions of a Street Addict..(written before he got super famous) and Richard Arms’ Stop and Make Money: How To Profit in the Stock Market Using Volume and Stop Orders. All 3 are riveting and very informative and gave me info on how all this stuff works… Anyone have other recommendations?

Milt – Since you have visited this site I feel no compunction against suggesting my own book, The Essentials of Trading, to you.
I wrote it specifically for those just getting their start in trading. My course by the same name actually is even better as it’s got some nice extras added in and there are things that can be done through video (like live action examples) which just can’t be done in a book).
I would also suggest you take a look at the Trader’s Wish List entry. There are loads of really good books suggested.
